Last week on the blog we covered the ins and outs of a skin care procedure known as dermaplaning (check it out if you missed it!), so this week we wanted to delve into another extremely beneficial-yet-sometimes-intimidating treatment: microneedling.
Microneedling entails tiny pricks to the skin, which create “micro-injuries.” This, in turn, stimulates collagen production in the “injured” areas (collagen being the stuff that keeps our skin plump, elastic, and youthful). The process also helps improve acne scarring and skin texture. Many notice an initial “glowy” look a week or so after their first treatment, and will see more dramatic effects after several rounds spaced out over a few months. Clients who try microneedling often become devotees of the procedures, and it’s a staff favorite.
That being said, it definitely makes sense that some clients have reservations about this one (“needles” + “face” doesn’t sound particularly pleasant!). However, the reality is microneedling is a minimally-invasive procedure that requires little-to-no downtime and entails relatively little discomfort.
Still unsure? Take a look at this video of microneedling in action.
Not so scary, right?
Bottom line: microneedling is in no way as intimidating as it may sound, and it’s a fantastic tool for improving skin texture, reducing scars and wrinkles, and keeping your skin looking plump.
Still not sure? Feel free to reach out and schedule either a virtual or in-person consultation to discuss the process with one of our skincare experts.
