Plated™ Hair Serum Before and Afters: Is It Worth The Hype?

Plated hair serum cost

There is currently a lot of noise in the hair restoration space. Every new day seems to brings countless new treatments, serums, products, and supplements, and it can be difficult to separate real data from the hype. That’s why today’s blog is about Plated™ Hair Serum before and after photos. Plated Hair Serum is the newest offering from the medical-grade skin care line Plated. (The brand is currently best known for their Plated Daily Serum and Plated Intense Serum for skin on the face, neck, and chest).

Full disclosure, our med spa — after much vetting and research — sells Plated serums. While we have always offered a number of hair restoration treatments, from microneedling for hair loss, to exosomes, to scalp Botox, we have never previously carried an actual at-home hair restoration product. This is because MedBeautyLA prides itself in delivering the med in med spa. We only offer clinically-proven, data-backed treatments, and avoid jumping on social media trends and TikTok “products of the week.” However, after digging into the data, we opted to add this specific hair treatment to our product line.

Firstly, What Is Plated? (And Why Is Everyone Talking About It?)

Plated is one of the first at-home products to offer the benefits of in-office growth factor treatments like PRP and exosomes.

Back Up, What Are PRP and Exosomes?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, and exosomes are both forms of human growth factor therapy. Human growth factor is the material that sends the “regenerate” signal to our bodies. It can be derived from several sources, like blood or stem cells, and it is the gold standard in cell restoration. Both treatments are used for things like wound regeneration, joint pain, and skin treatments. Most recently, they have been shown to work as an effective hair restoration treatment. Growth factor applied to the scalp — especially in combination with treatments like microneedling — can stimulate and “reawaken” hair follicles. This leads to denser hair per inch in the treatment area.

Plated Hair Serum FAQs

Is Plated Hair Serum As Potent As PRP and Exosomes?

Plated is not as strong as in-office treatments. This is because the stem cells in Plated have been irradiated to make them shelf stable, which decreases their potency. However, this does not mean that Plated Hair Serum is ineffective. It still provides significant benefit when used daily at home, and is also excellent when used in combination with in-office treatments like microneedling with exosomes. Each full-sized bottle of Plated ™ contains over 1 trillion exosomes and has been shown to improve hair density.

Where Do The Stem Cells from Plated Come From?

All Plated serums — including Plated Daily and Plated Intense — derive their exosomes from blood donated in a sterile and highly-regulated lab. The donor sources have been vetted for health, ensuring that all cells in Plated products are of the highest quality.

Is Plated Hair Serum Expensive? Plated Hair Serum Cost

This is a tricky question. One bottle of Plated Hair Serum will cost you about $349 for a 60-day supply. This of course sounds pricey and is more expensive than your average hair serum. However, using Plated to restore hair now can save time, money, and immense discomfort when compared to expensive and painful hair transplant procedures. (Which, by the way, do not have a guaranteed success rate). Additionally, the average consumer will spend a not-so-insignificant amount of money cycling through ineffective products in an average year. Spending more upfront on something with proven results often saves money in the long run.
