Microdermabrasion + Dermaplaning

BRIGHTER, SMOOTHER SKIN

Our skin naturally renews itself about every 27 days, revealing brighter, fresher skin undeneath. However, this process slows as we age (the slowing process starts by about age 30), and can be inhibited by a number of external factors. This can affect skin texture and tone, brightness, and even product absorption. Luckily, we can speed up the exfoliation process with microdermabrasion and dermaplaning — both of which are offered here at MedBeautyLA.

Dermaplaning vs Microdermabrasion? Read on to find out which of these exfoliating techniques is right for you and your skin.

Microdermabrasion

While you relax in the treatment chair, one of our expert aestheticians uses a DiamondGlow exfoliation wand to sand away the dead cells from your epidermis while also infusing it with targeted serums. After your first microderm session, you’ll notice changes such as:

  • Coarse skin becomes smooth and silky
  • Brighter, more even skin tone
  • Your pores appear smaller

After several microderm sessions, you’ll also likely notice:

  • A softening of shallow scars
  • Less fine lines and wrinkles
  • Fading of age spots and melasma

You may notice some skin pinkness and tightness for several days after your procedure, but our staff will advise you on all post-care instructions, as well as come up with a “product plan” tailored specifically for your skin if requested.  SPF post-procedure is also a must.

Dermaplaning

Dermplaning entails using a medical-grade razor to “shave” the skin, gently scraping away the top layer along with peach fuzz hairs that can dull your complexion by trapping oil and dirt. During your treatment, an aestheteician holds your skin taut and uses light, upward strokes to remove dead skin cells (the process feels incredibly soothing!). The procedure is followed by targeted serums and enzymes — which your skin will now be well-primed to absorb. Dermaplaning is a fantastic option for clients with sensitive or mature skin who may not tolerate microdermabrasion, and there is zero downtime.
