What Are Exosomes? And Why Are They Helpful?
Exosomes are the nanoparticles that our bodies release as we heal. They contain a “regeneration cocktail” of lipids, proteins, amino acids, peptides and growth factors, and they send the signal that it’s time to repair and regenerate. They also target inflammation and cell degradation. Unlike PRP or vampire facials, which are limited by the quality of each patient’s own plasma, the exosomes used in aesthetic treatments come from cells that were isolated in a lab from nutrient-rich placenta. The serum created from exosomes is 100 times more powerful than PRP due to the quality and source.
How Does Microneedling with Exosomes Work?
The actual process is quite simple! Your provider will thaw a bottle of fresh exosomes moments before your treatment (exosomes arrive frozen to ensure they are as fresh and potent as possible when coming from the lab). The exosomes are then applied directly to your skin after your microneedling session, and you will keep the serum on the treatment area for the remainder of the day. The channels created via the microneedling allow the exosomes to penetrate deep within the skin, promoting collagen production and increased skin firmness and elasticity.
If you have received microneedling in the past, you will likely notice that your skin is significantly less red and inflamed directly after treatment when combined with exosomes therapy. Your skin will also heal faster post-treatment overall.
